For students attending the course Molecular and genetic mechanisms in nutrition science (10 credits) course code 4NT022
This course deals with current scientific evidence on the relationship between dietary factors, metabolic and hormonal regulation, as well as cellular and molecular mechanisms that are important in the development and treatment of lifestyle-dependent diseases, such as obesity, cardiovascular disease, diabetes and cancer. The course also deals with the current methods used in research on molecular and cellular mechanisms of nutrition.

PREVIOUS COURSE CODE: 4NT001
Introduction to the course
The course consists of workshops, journal clubs, individual literature assignments and group work, aiming at providing an evidence-based perspective on the impact of nutrition for human health. There is a focus on how the scientific method can be used to dissect molecular mechanisms underlying the influence of diet in human well-being.
Biostatistics in connection with discussing scientific articles is included, as well as ethical considerations in animal research. During the course you will also receive training in presenting, discussing and communicating science in the area for the course.
The course is examined through several individual short reports during the course, a presentation and discussion of group work regarding molecular methods, as well as a longer individual written report and an oral presentation.
