The course introduces the student to identify and distinguish important concepts of statistical thinking. Descriptive vs inferential statistics. Theoretical vs empirical distributions. Population parameters vs sample estimates. Pre-data vs post-data error probabilities. Testing hypothesis vs confidence intervals. Parametric vs non-parametric methods.
In addition, the student will learn professional use of Stata programming language.
