Digital tools and services for students
As a student at KI, you have access to a range of systems, tools and e-services to use during your studies. Most services are accessed using your student account. If you have problems logging in, you can contact Student-IT at the University Library.
Getting started at KI
Student account
All KI students receive a student account that gives you access to a range of services, including the Canvas learning platform, student e-mail, wireless networks on campus, Ladok and remote access to library resources.
Register your student account and change your password
Student e-mail
All KI students receive a student e-mail address when their student account is registered. You use your student e-mail address as your username when logging in, with the same password as for KI's other e-services, such as Canvas.
If you do not check your student e-mail regularly, you can forward it to your private e-mail address. You can also read your e-mail on your phone.
Wireless network Eduroam
Eduroam is a wireless network that KI students can use at KI and at many other higher education institutions in Sweden and abroad. Always use KI's settings when connecting.
Printing
To copy, scan and print documents using printers on campus, you need a student account and a KI card.

Courses and examinations
Canvas
Canvas is KI's learning platform. Here you can find course information, schedules, reading lists, quizzes, assignments, videos and other course material. The Canvas student guide contains short videos explaining how the system works.
Ladok
Ladok gives you an overview of your studies. Here you can, among other things, register for your courses, see your grades, print study certificates and apply for a degree.
Inspera examination
Inspera examination is a system used at KI for written digital examinations on campus and remotely. Read more about the system and how you can prepare for your examination.
Software and digital tools
Microsoft 365
As a KI student, you have access to Microsoft 365, including Word, Excel, Outlook and OneDrive, for studying, collaboration and communication.
Microsoft Teams
Teams is part of Microsoft 365 and can be used for collaboration and group work. You can use it for meetings, chats, sharing and working together on files, and organising tasks. To create your own group in Teams, you need to fill in a form.
Zoom
Zoom can be used within Canvas, but also as an online meeting tool outside Canvas, for example with students from other courses or other higher education institutions.
Affinity's design programmes
KI students have access to the Affinity design software suite, which you can install on your own computer. The suite consists of three programmes: Photo, Designer and Publisher. They are broadly equivalent to Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
SPSS statistics
SPSS is statistical software that KI students can install on their own computers.
Library and reading support
Remote access to the University Library
When you are not using a computer on KI's network, you need to be recognised as a KI user to access the journals, databases and e-books provided by the University Library. The library's website provides information on different ways to access its resources remotely.
Legimus
Legimus provides access to specially adapted literature for students who have difficulty reading printed text. Course literature can be provided as talking books, large print, e-text or braille. To use Legimus, you need a certificate from the coordinator for students with disabilities.
Tortalk
Tortalk is a text-to-speech tool available to all KI students. You can use it to listen to texts and have your own text read aloud, for example when proofreading.
Undergraduate and Master's students obtain their licence via Student-IT. Doctoral students obtain their licence via Software Center, for departments connected to coordinated IT, or from the licence manager at their department.
