A fellow’s perspective on the Executive health and diplomacy programme: Eva Turk
The Executive Programme in International Politics and Diplomacy for Health equips professionals with the skills and tools needed to navigate complex political processes for health.
Among its fellows is Dr. Eva Turk, who works in Slovenia’s Minister’s Office. She joined the programme to deepen her understanding of how health policy, international relations, and stakeholder negotiation intersect. Here, she shares how the training has shaped her thinking.

“The programme opened my eyes to the power of cross-sector collaboration for lasting change.”
Why did you participate in this programme?
I have been working with various stakeholders in different countries, and I wanted to deepen my understanding of how health policy, international relations, and stakeholder negotiation intersect in global contexts. I was also hoping for the opportunity to learn from the best.
How has this programme helped you in your profession?
The programme truly opened my eyes to the importance of looking beyond a single sector if we want to create lasting change. This insight has already started shaping my approach, and I’m actively applying it in how I think about cross-sector collaboration and impact.
How do you think this programme will impact or help your workplace?
One thing the training has already demonstrated is its potential to open up new opportunities for partnerships and knowledge exchange that could strengthen our overall impact. I also hope to connect with other countries in the region to build a network of individuals and institutions who understand the urgency of a multi- and cross-sector approach.
Would you recommend this programme to others?
Yes, I would 100% recommend it to others. The programme offers valuable insights from senior global health leaders, provides opportunities to learn from their experiences, and includes hands-on cases and debates. It also creates a wonderful platform to connect with fellows and faculty from across the globe. The openness to share both successes and failures, and the emphasis on seeing the bigger picture, was truly remarkable.
Executive Programme in International Politics and Diplomacy for Health
The programme is run jointly by Karolinska Institutet and the Stockholm School of Economics. The aim of the Executive Programme in International Politics and Diplomacy for Health is to equip emerging generations of health leaders with health diplomacy skills; to build a network of organisations and individuals committed to the improvement of health; and to generate insights about the evolving nature of international politics and diplomacy for health.
