For students attending the Master's Programme in Biostatistics and Data Science Programme Outline

The programme offers a unique combination of biostatistics and data science. Students with backgrounds in mathematics, statistics, computer science, or related disciplines, are provided with the skills to solve problems in biology, medicine, and public health. The programme is offered jointly by Karolinska Institutet, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, and Stockholm University.

Programme overview

The programme consists of four semesters. The first three semesters are divided into two blocks of approximately ten weeks each and the final semester is the degree project. Students study two courses simultaneously. For example, in the first semester students commence by studying “Probability theory” and “Theory of statistical inference”; during the second half of the first semester, students study “Biostatistics I” and “Categorical data analysis”.
