Are you starting a bachelor's or master's programme at Karolinska Institutet? You may be eligible a Swedish language course, free of charge.

Eligibility

Who is eligible to register?

Eligible

  • Students admitted to a bachelor's or master's programme at KI

Possibly eligible

  • Exchange students
    • If you are going to do exchange studies at KI for at least eight weeks and are enrolled in courses, you must check with your international coordinator whether you are eligible before applying to the Swedish course.

Not eligible

  • Visiting PhD students
  • Exchange students enrolled in courses at KI for less than eight weeks
  • Native speakers of Norwegian or Danish.

Required documentation

An admission decision or a Ladok transcript is also required to be eligible.

Registration

Registration is mandatory.

How to register

  • Please state your full name in the application, the same as when you applied for KI. 
  • Under "name of the person at Karolinska Institutet who is responsible for paying your course fee", state Caroline Larsson Ekström. 

Course format

The course is provided by Folkuniversitetet. It is available as either a five-week course (two evenings a week for five weeks) or ten-week course (one evening a week for ten weeks).
