Initially, general aspects of tissue structure as well as central morphological concepts in histology are presented. The emphasis of the course is on understanding the histological appearance of different organ systems and the connection to their functions.

Course information
After completing the course, the student should be able to:
Regarding knowledge and understanding
explain the specific functions of different cell types,
describe how different tissues are built up, and explain how the constituent cells contribute to the functions of the tissues,
explain the theories behind and the applications of the most common methods of analysis of different tissues.
Regarding skill and ability
be able to identify tissues and their cells in histological tissue sections,
plan an experimental tissue analysis project.
