Cost of education

Here you will find information about the regulations on cost of education in Sweden.

Education at Swedish universities is free of charge for citizens of an EU/EEA country (The Swedish Higher Education Act (1992:1434) Chapter 4 Section 4). For those who are not citizens of an EU/EEA country or Switzerland, Swedish universities must charge a tuition fee for studies both at bachelor's and master's level. The universities must in this case also charge an application fee of 900SEK (Ordinance on application fees and tuition fees at higher education institutions (2010:543)   2 Subsection 1-8).

The fees apply for all students from outside the EU/EEA commencing their studies from 31 July 2011 and onwards.

The university may also charge all students regardless of citizenship for certain mandatory course material.
