Neurotech EU exchanges 2023/2024

Courses for incoming exchange students within Neurotech EU

To be accepted as an exchange student at Karolinska Institutet you must be enrolled at a higher education institution that has a written exchange agreement with Karolinska Institutet within the NeurotechEU collaboration. Exchange students should be selected and nominated by their home institution, however the final decision on admission is made by Karolinska Institutet.

All courses are full-time courses and require at least 40 hours of work per week. The courses are given in blocks, and a student can only attend one course at a time. One study week is equivalent to 1.5 ECTS credits. The performance will be graded in accordance with the ECTS grading scale and on the basis of the student´s fulfillment of the learning outcomes stated in the course syllabus.

Research-oriented projects within NeurotechEU

Karolinska Institutet offers research-oriented projects on Bachelor and Master’s level during both autumn and spring semester. You can choose project courses equivalent to  15 ECTS or 30 ECTS credits. One week of full-time studies is equivalent to 1.5 ECTS. One example of a syllabus is presented below. You need to make your own initial arrangements. The most successful approach is to participate in an ongoing research project and to find a supervisor interested in coaching students. When you initiate contact with potential supervisors inform them that you will apply for an exchange at KI. The subject area and the hosting supervisor at Karolinska Institutet should be stated in the application form. Depending on which project you will be perfoming, Hepatitis B vaccination might be required. For more information contact your supervisor or the international coordinator at Karolinska Institutet.

Application deadlines

May 1, for Autumn term (end of August to mid-January)

November 1, for the spring term (mid-January to the beginning of June)

Who can apply?

When you have been nominated by your home institution for exchange studies at Karolinska Institutet, the international coordinator at KI will get in contact with you by email with further information regarding the application process.

Will I be admitted?

There are only a limited number of places on curricular courses and projects. You apply in competition and a study place cannot be guaranteed. Please choose more than one alternative when filling in the application form, since that will increase you chances of being admitted.
