Degree certificate
A degree certificate is a document confirming that you have fulfilled the requirements for a specific degree.
Your degree certificate states the name of the degree, the courses included in your degree, the grades awarded for the courses, the dates on which the courses were completed, the completion date of your studies, and the date on which the degree certificate was issued. All degree certificates issued by Karolinska Institutet are bilingual (in Swedish and English).
Please note that you must apply for a degree certificate yourself for your degree to be issued.
Diploma supplement
Attached to your degree certificate is an English-language supplement called the Diploma Supplement. The Diploma Supplement describes the degree awarded and its place in the Swedish higher education system. The purpose of the document is to facilitate the recognition and transfer of Swedish degrees when seeking employment or applying for further studies abroad or in Sweden. The Diploma Supplement does not replace the degree certificate but is an accompanying document.
Digital degree certificate
From 1 April 2024, Karolinska Institutet issues digital degree certificates. A digital degree certificate contains the same information as a degree certificate issued in paper format. Previously issued paper degree certificates will not be reissued in digital form.
You will receive an email notification when your degree certificate has been issued. You can download your degree certificate from Ladok.
You can download your degree certificate as many times as you wish. The document is a PDF file and contains an e-stamp. The e-stamp confirms that the document is authentic and only functions when the certificate is opened and viewed digitally.
