Olivia from Sweden

Like many others Bachelor projects, mine didn’t quite turn out the way I had imagined. But something else came out of it, the spark of my interest in toxicology. One year later, that interest brought me to the Master’s program in Toxicology at Karolinska Institutet. My name is Olivia, and besides beginning my studies, I’m also about to start my role as one of KI’s digital ambassadors on the Instagram team.

During my first month at KI, I’ve already had a taste of one of the things I was most excited about when starting here: taking the step from learning about scientific mechanisms to questioning them. I’m looking forward to developing my ability to analyze, think critically, gain confidence and eventually contribute ideas of my own to the ones I’ve been learning from others.

Outside of science, I’ve always loved pouring my creativity into different projects, whether that means writing, painting, designing or playing an instrument. I like to think that seriousness works best when paired with a bit of quirkiness, which is shown in both my work and studies. I have a whole collection of dry jokes stored in my note’s app, which probably says more about me than any introduction could. As a digital ambassador I’m excited to let that mixture of science, study life, and fun seep into your feed.
