My name is Luis and I'm one of the student bloggers at KI! I'm currently studying the Master's Programme in Global Health.
I come from a city called San Luis Potosi, Mexico (no, they didn't name the city after me), but I also grew up in Belgium and Colombia, which is how I came to fall in love with the international lifestyle. I completed my bachelor’s degree in the beautiful city of Montreal, so you could say I'm quite used to harsh winters, which is why I wasn't scared of choosing Sweden as my next destination.
Growing up and living in such different places made me realise how very different healthcare can be between each country and region, so global health felt quite natural to me as the next step to take in my academic career. When looking at programmes, KI was at the top of my list—not only because of its strong academics and focus on health sciences, but also because of its proven track record in research excellence and leadership in global public health.
In my free time, you can catch me taking long strolls in the city (even in winter) and hanging out with my friends. A very not-so-fun fact about me: even though I absolutely adore fika, I don't like coffee at all so when it's the only option I drink only milk instead!
