About the programme
The Master's Programme in Global Health focuses on the multifaceted health challenges that transcend national borders and have important impact on current and future generations. Ethics, systems thinking, sustainable development and interdisciplinarity are are central to the programme.
Study environment
You will study in an interdisciplinary environment that brings together education, research and practice. Through Karolinska Institutet’s global health network, you will gain access to leading researchers and research groups, enriching your studies and supporting your professional development.
Programme summary
From the start, you will explore key concepts such as sustainable development and the global burden of disease. You will develop a solid understanding of health systems and policy, alongside both qualitative and quantitative approaches for research and practice. Ethical perspectives run throughout the programme and are integrated into all areas of global health.
You will also learn how to apply your knowledge in practice. Through applied courses and projects, you will develop, implement and evaluate health interventions. You can either take specialised courses, in areas such as evidence synthesis and emergency preparedness, or complete an internship with a company, organisation or research group in Sweden or abroad.
In the final semester, you will carry out a degree project, where you will explore a specific area of global health in depth. This allows you to apply the theories, methods and skills you have developed during your studies. You can choose a qualitative, quantitative or literature-based approach. Like the internship, the degree project can be completed in Sweden or abroad.
