Hej hej and merhaba to everyone! My name is Irem and I’m from Turkey. I did my bachelor's in Nutrition and Dietetics in Istanbul and now, I am a first-year student in the Master's Programme in Nutrition Science.

I have been always very curious. Since high school, my biggest interest has been nutrition and food. Therefore, I started to look up a lot of information in that field. I wanted to learn more about the correlation between nutrition and our health, and started to look for the best schools for my master's. Karolinska Institutet, one of the top schools in medicine and life sciences, was the first one I found. At first, being an introvert, I wasn’t sure if I could make it away from my home country, but now I’m glad that I am part of the KI family.

As mentioned, I’m a little introverted, but I like it. When I first settled into my room, the first thing I did was make it feel like home with some photos and candles. I also have great friends here and I love spending time with them.

I am a total cat person, I have a 5-year-old stray cat that now stays with my mother. Another important thing about me is that I’m addicted to coffee, so the Swedish fika culture is the best!
