Hi! My name is Kai-Lin, and I am one of the bloggers on the team. I am currently a Master’s student in the Molecular Techniques for Life Sciences programme.

I come from the sunny island of Jamaica and completed my bachelor’s degree on another sunny island: Singapore. The differences in weather weren’t on my mind when I first discovered this programme through a literal Google search. I instantly felt drawn to it, not only for the high calibre of research that Karolinska Institutet produces, but also because of the collaborative nature of the Stockholm trio within SciLifeLab. Here, I have the chance to meet and interact with a diverse community of people whilst living day to day in the beautiful and calming city of Stockholm. For now, I have taken the most suggested piece of advice I have been given (to go out in the sun!) and started taking more walks around town and in nature whenever I can.

In my free time, I enjoy various cosy activities like watching romance series, reading a book or picking up random arts and crafts. Whenever I feel stressed, I love activities like puzzles, paint-by-numbers or completing a cross-stitch, because seeing the progression towards completion gives me so much satisfaction.
