Specific entry requirements

For admission to the course the student have had completed at least 80 % (48 credits) of courses at semester 1 and 2.

Objectives

The course is a continuation of the streak in professional development which includes 1.5 HE credits of total 6 HE credits for the whole study programme. The general aim with the streak is to provide the student knowledge and tools to be able to develop an ethical and professional attitude by developing both as an individual and in the professional role.

The specific aim of this course, Professional skills 3, is to reflect more deeply on ethical positions in the care, on conflict management, sustainable development and equality.

The expected learning outcomes of the course
On completion of the course, the student should:
- Reflect on the concepts of equality, gender, sex, diversity and gender equality from a teaching and hearing caring perspective with a focus on own and others' norms and values,
- Reflect on the concept of sustainable development based on perspectives that can include factors as health sustainable consumption, production, economical development, social cohesion and environment and climate and globalisation,
- Reflect on conflict management and conflict solution within the profession
- Reflect on different ethical dilemmas in the care and how these can be solved with a professional attitude.

Content

The materials of the course are presented on The Ping Pong platform Professional skills where the different modules are presented. On this web platform the student also collects written assignments, reflection and other material to a so called portfolio that comes along through all modules in the streak. The different modules in the streak are not given under some specific week during the semesters but different parts are either integrated in other courses or take place at a distance via PingPong parallel with other courses.

Teaching methods

Seminars, exercises and self-study. Certain parts of the teaching are compulsory.

In case of absence from compulsory part, the student is responsible for contacting the course coordinator for a complementary assignment.

The course director assesses if, and in that case how absence from compulsory education elements can be substituted. Before the student has participated in the compulsory parts or has replaced compulsory education, in accordance to the instructions of the course coordinator, the final study results cannot be reported.
Absence from a compulsory education element can imply that the student can not recover the occasion until next time the course be given.

For a Pass grade in the course, attendance at compulsory parts is also required.

For students who have not passed the regular examination, possibility for re-examination is offered at a total of six examinations, of which the three last in connection to the next occasion when the course is given. As examination, the times are counted when the student has participated in the same test. Supplementary qualification of written assignment is counted as an examination.

Transitional provisions

Examination can take place according to an earlier literature list during a time of one year after the date when a renewal of the literature list been made. Examination will be provided during a time of two years after a possible close-down of the course.

Other directives

Study supervision containing assessment criteria for examination, specific instructions for certain tasks and timetable with specification of compulsory parts and list of responsible teachers are available on PingPong at the beginning of the course. Course evaluation will be carried out according to the guidelines that are established by the Board of Higher Education. Course evaluation is carried out both through a written course evaluation at the end of the course and and through oral course forum at least once in connection with course where students can state their opinions.
